Denise Preston (Executive Committee Member)

Denise Preston – Charles Sturt University

  1. What is your work/passion/ side-hustle?

I have a passion for helping others and connecting people, which are some of the reasons why I joined the committee for WIB. I enjoy helping people achieve understanding of their responsibilities and obligations in accordance with the law.

I work with Charles Sturt University in Research Integrity ensuring the highest standard of research integrity for the university in accordance with legislative, policy and procedural requirements.

2. Beyond the 9 to 5 – what do you live for

When I’m not working, I am a mum to my beautiful and clever daughter whose charm and gusto never ceases to amaze me, and a wife to my supportive husband who always encourages me to better myself. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, working in the garden, growing our own fruit and vegetables, acrylic flow art, yoga and also enjoy a game of squash, or riding around the lake.

3. How did you land in Wagga - Are you Wagga born and bred, grew up here moved away and returned, moved here later in life and stayed because you love it, or something else that landed you here?

I grew up in Sydney living on baklava and manoosh (Lebanese Pizza) - my favourites. I moved to Wagga in 2013 for a job opportunity, with a plan to eventually return back to Sydney. Wagga was a complete change of pace, with lots of space and free parking, and I fell in love with the lifestyle and also my now husband. As they say, the rest is history...

4. Woman (famous or not) you are most inspired by and why?

I am inspired by all women who have the courage to be vulnerable, genuine and supportive of others. We all have our own unique qualities which can make us all inspirational.
