Annual Mentor Program

Women in Business (WIB) are committed to supporting the ongoing personal and professional development of women in our community.

Our annual mentoring program links members of Women in Business with successful Riverina women in order to engage in a one-to-one mentoring relationship for personal and career growth.

As well as supporting high-potential women to realise their career and leadership goals, the program provides current leaders with the opportunity to develop their mentoring skills.  The program satisfies many of our strategic objectives including to educate, empower, inspire, motivate, support, advocate and celebrate our members.

The program is financially supported by Women in Business and offered to members free of charge. Mentors generously donate their time for the benefit of their fellow women.

There are ten places available annually.

Who should apply?

If you are seeking some guidance, inspiration and professional growth you should apply.

The program is open to all financial members of Women in Business. It does not matter if you are mid, early or late career, work for yourself or are employed, the benefits of mentoring are invaluable.

WIB welcomes and supports diversity.

How it works

You set the agenda in terms of your goals and your mentor will work with you to provide the guidance and advice you need based on their extensive experience. How and how often you meet is by mutual agreement with your mentor.

In addition to one-on-one mentoring, The Women in Business committee supplement the program with a range of opportunities and activities throughout the year, including opportunities to get together with other mentees and expand networks.

The program begins in February each year and finishes in November with a graduation dinner.

Mentor Matching

The WIB Mentor Program Committee is responsible for matching mentors and mentees. The information you provide in your application helps us to do this so the more we understand about your hopes and goals the better.

Important Note: Mentoring is aimed individual development. It is not a business development program and mentors are not there as business advisors.For this reason, you should not expect to be matched with someone in the same profession or business area.

Participating in a mentoring program is recognised as having significant benefits for both the Mentor and Mentee.

Some of the benefits of participating in a mentoring program include:

  • Help with career progression;

  • Improve job satisfaction;

  • Increase motivation;

  • Develop leadership and problem-solving skills;

  • Build confidence and self-esteem;

  • Provide regular constructive feedback; and

  • Widen networking circles.
