2019 Mentor Profile: Karen Lenihan

Karen is a registered general and psychiatric nurse, with a background in health services delivery.
Karen’s predominant work has been with people who are on the social fringe e.g. people with mental illness, with drug and alcohol dependencies, women in prisons and women experiencing domestic violence.
Karen has experience and skills in:
Strategic planning, seeing the “big picture”, pulling desperate parts together and linking them into sustainable systems
Management of staff, teams and divisions. That includes things like budget management, business service provision, underperformance management, disputes management, quality improvement, data collection, legislative/regulation compliance and reporting
Change management with experience facilitating and leading change processes of various sizes
Project management and evaluation
Karen’s career has spanned multiple levels; working in operational areas, through middle management and then as an executive
Karen has a long standing interest in neuroscience and believes that with a stronger understanding of the science of behaviour, most workplaces would be significantly improved.
