As the Regional Advisor for the Riverina's branch of World Shimjang Taekwondo Academy, it is my job to promote our organisation and encourage new students to join.

I started training in Shimjang Taekwondo at 48 years of age. In October 2017, I travelled to the Gold Coast and attended the World Shimjang Taekwondo Academy's bi annual club day and participated in the grading event where I earned by black belt at the age of 54.

Since that day I have gone on to become an instructor and opened up two more centres in the Riverina, one at Uranquinty and a second one at Lockhart. We have a total of six centres in the area now, Junee, Mt Austin, Lake Albert and Forest Hill.

We teach a great traditional self defence style of martial art. It is non contact and we do not have tournaments. We run gradings three times per year in the Riverina and we currently have around 100 students training in just our area!

To see students achieve their belt rankings and grow within themselves is amazing and brings such a sense of accomplishment to be a part of their learning.

The Riverina chapter has also been fortunate enough to be given the rights to host the World Shimjang Taekwondo Academy's Riverina Grading and Open Day on March 9th, 2019. We are expecting around 250 students and blackbelts to visit the Riverina area.
